SafetyNet System Provides Sustainable Fishing Practices


Every time fishermen go for fishing, chances are that they return with huge tones of fish from the sea, some of which include endangered species. The primary reason for this problem is the kind of fishing techniques being employed that are not selective. This leads to juvenile and rare fish varieties being caught along with marketable ones. In order to overcome such situations, the concept of SafetyNet has been unveiled. It is an innovative trawling system that incorporates “escape rings” into this trawling net system. It cuts down over the clutch and ensuing removal of infantile and endangered fish. The trawl separates several varieties of species and ages of fish by tapping fish behavioral habits as well as physiology. It’s been designed to meet all requirements set forth by the UN in the definition of sustainable development. This design provides our today’s need while preparing for better situation in the future.
As you probably know, 40 percent of the world’s population depends on fish as their main source of food. If our fishing practices continue they way they are, slowly but sure, we are draining our fish supplies. The SafetyNet system has made the fishing industry even more sustainable. Besides being the main source of security for the people who are ardent consumers of fish, it as well gives security for fishermen in the industry itself. This SafetyNet system has been design to release juvenile and non-target fish such as cod in order to allow fish stocks to replenish and support us in the future.
